[Toronto, 1 December 2023] — Canadensys Aerospace is thrilled to announce the appointment of Gilles Leclerc as the Director of Government & International Affairs. With an illustrious career in space exploration, Mr. Leclerc brings a wealth of experience to the Canadensys Executive Leadership team.
Gilles Leclerc served most recently as the Director General of Space Exploration at the Canadian Space Agency (CSA). In this capacity, he oversaw and directed Canada’s participation in the International Space Station, the Canadian Astronaut Program, and all Canadian deep space and planetary exploration missions and activities. His efforts have contributed significantly to the nation’s standing in the international space exploration community.
In addition to his role at the CSA, Mr. Leclerc previously served for three years as the Space Counsellor at the Canadian Embassy in Paris, where he fostered collaborations and partnerships between Canada and European space organizations. His diplomatic skills and strategic vision have been instrumental in strengthening international ties in the field of space exploration.
One of Mr. Leclerc’s notable achievements in recent years includes his tenure as the Chair of the International Space Exploration Coordination Group (ISECG), a forum of 27 space agencies, including NASA, ESA, JAXA and others, working together to advance a Global Exploration Strategy through coordination of their mutual efforts in space exploration . His leadership at ISECG showcased his ability to navigate complex international collaborations and drive consensus among diverse stakeholders.
